14 travel-friendly sex toys to take on holiday with you for 2024

It’s a fairly magic combination: temperatures over 22°C, the unwavering stench of sun cream and an active OOO. Come summer hols, we’re all feeling friskier and sexier.

Even science says so. Apparently 63% of adults say they are more open to new bedroom antics when abroad. But with concerns over the weight of your hand luggage or your destination’s laws on sex tech — yep, not everywhere's quite as accepting as the British Isles — we understand why you might consider leaving your best-rated vibe at home. However, when at home, only 34% of women masturbate at least once a week, compared to 64% of men, in a phenomenon that has been dubbed 'the masturbation gap'. The shock, horror... and major disappointment. Seriously, with a holiday offering you all the time in the world, we’re hoping the right carry-on companion may just change things.

Luckily, we sent a handful of Cosmo’s in-house sex writers on a short-haul diversion from their usual duties to track down the very best travel-friendly sex toys.

So, stay tuned for our packing list, as well as top tips for a pro in the field.

Even with the most discreet sex toys, some countries simply won’t allow them past the border. This is entirely dependent on a destination’s laws, with some countries banning them entirely and others only confiscating them when they think you have the intention to sell.

Essentially: do a Google on your destination and check your airline’s guidelines too.

Some of the countries that won’t allow your techy tag-along include Iran, Iraq, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, UAE and Vietnam.

We roped in multiple willing testers — because we know we’re all different in terms of our anatomy and tastes. The members of this group sit at various points on the sexuality, gender identity and age spectrums, plus had varying levels of experience with sex toys.

After extensively examining the teasers, their boxes and any added extras — stickers, storage bags and lube samples — our volunteers got down to some serious self-care.

Using the toys in a range of sexual positions, with and without partners, they tested every feature and pulsing pattern, as well as claims on battery life and waterproof capabilities.

Wanting something small but with serious power? This new LELO release uses sonic waves to stimulate your clitoris more than ever before — and trust us, the designers aren’t lying.

Measuring in at just 3.4 inches, this petite vibrator is smaller than most sunglasses, and has a handy travel lock to avoid any unwanted murmurs.

With 12 types of vibrations, from gentle murmurs to intense pulses, this one will have your legs shaking — and it's 100% watertight, just in case you fancy scaling up your skinny-dipping.

There's only one drawback: the three button control can be a little fiddly, but you get used to it with a little ~practice~.

Now this one’s good for beginners and travellers alike. This palm-sized clitoral stimulator is made from gorgeous premium materials and uses gentle sonic waves to tip you over the edge into orgasmic bliss. Just place it over your C-spot, although the large mouth will pleasure the entire erogenous zone, and lay back — it couldn’t be simpler.

There are eight settings to suit your every mood, from soft murmurs to powerful pulses, and it’s tub- friendly. Sold.

It also comes with a luxe af satin storage pouch meaning that your clit sucker can travel in style.

Going on a trip without your other half? Or making the most of Hot Girl Summer? It’s no surprise The Rose has featured in our line-up, having received rave reviews on TikTok, and from the entire Cosmo team.

This handheld clitoral sucker is designed to feel just like oral. Think suction, vibrations and a fluttering, licking sensation, but with no touching at all. Yeah, we were intrigued too.

We love the toy's cutesy floral design, which looks less like a sex toy and more like a mini sculpture. Flower power, indeed!

Before heading down-under, just load up the petal with your favourite water-based lube.

Sadly, the global success of the Rosec means it probably will no longer slip unnoticed through airport security. Luckily, Lovehoney’s newest launch has been disguised as a pocket-sized penguin instead. Now we’re not totally sure why you’d need a marine bird-style trinket on your holibobs, but it’s up to you to find an excuse — we just review the tech.

Several rounds of self-pleasure confirmed that Pingu packs a punch, his power delivered via 10 moving modes. Talking of those, there is something for everyone, with persistent pulses and intermittent tremors. And as the clit sucker is USB rechargeable, there’s no need to worry about picking up batteries at duty-free.

And if you’re wondering what keen shoppers have thought, one review raved: “My wife was always slightly scared of the idea of suction toys, assuming it would be like putting a mini vacuum cleaner against her. It's safe to say that after several incredibly enjoyable sessions with this we've been converted — this thing is fantastic.”

This one’s a new release in the travel-friendly category, and one we’re pretty sure you’ll be totally in awe of. A pint-sized version of its best-selling pinpoint stimulator, LELO’s just lost the loop handle (but no power) to ensure this slips neatly into your hand luggage.

FYI, one of our writers stated that for the “single girls who want more orgasms with minimal effort and without the assistance of a mediocre lover, this is a sensible, nay, sensual choice.” Read her full review here.

But weighing in at 53 grams and fitted with a battery life of up to one hour, plus an inability to get any louder than 60 dB, this vibrator will work whether you plan on joining the Mile High Club or making the most of your private balcony. Just slick the ballpoint tip with lube — LELO’s Personal Moisturizer if you like to stay loyal — and head south.

No, that’s not a Beauty Blender in our pocket — we really are just that excited you made it this far. Now Roam is probably best known for its motion lotion (read: lube), but the brand also puts a signature spin on classic sex toys.

The Pebble is, well, a pebble vibrator, tailored to teasing at the surface. Either use the tapered tip for precise clitoral play or lay it flat to spread the vibrations across your entire vulva. Plus, with it being fully waterproof, we recommend turning your hotel room tub hot.

Sitting at the firm end of the spectrum, this isn’t one for the sensitive of skin or those struggling with dryness. However, for the new to sex tech who are looking for something that won’t get in the way, you’re welcome.

The humble cock ring is a wise place to start if you’re a total beginner — or want to use your escape from reality to really master missionary.

Tenga’s SVR+ cock ring comes with a three-inch extension that works a bit like a bullet vibrator — simply direct it wherever you wanted added motion and sensation. When in the throes of partnered passion, it should rest against his perineum and your clitoris, amping up the pleasure for you both.

This ring specifically consists of a stretchy, flat-ringed design that prevents it from rolling and spinning once in place. If we were to complain about anything, we’d say the 40-minute battery life needs work — but this vibrating penis ring rarely lets you last that long anyway.

You might be limited on space, but that doesn’t mean your pleasure has to suffer. This two-piece set comes with both a mini vibrator (perfect for total-body teasing), and a G-spot stimulator, all discreetly hidden in a trendy carry bag.

The smaller of the two toys, The Surfer, is made from super-soft silicone and has three aptly placed fins to help with those external orgasms. Then there’s The Tennis Pro, designed with an angled head and rumbling motor to push you over the edge from the inside.

Both are easy to use, thanks to the single button controlling the various vibration modes, and last about four hours.

Our Sex and Relationships Senior Ecommerce Writer Sophie says: “The Surfer was my first sex toy, and one I’ve gifted to various friends since. It's super compact, fits in any handbag and the bulbous head makes finding the right spot easy. Enjoy gals.”

Consider this your solution to more interesting missionary, doggy, spooning... the list goes on. The silicone ring is designed to tantalise your entire downstairs during penetration, with aptly placed bubbles and a small hump to grind against.

Simply slide it down the length of your partner’s penis or strap-on, or a dildo if flying solo, before adding a generous helping your favourite lube. Then climb on and ride. It could not be simpler, people!

And since it doesn’t need batteries or recharging, and is completely silent, you can use this anywhere at any time. We're obsessed.

Avoid any unwanted airport encounters by taking a toy that could easily be mistaken for your lipstick. Yep, We-Vibe have thought of it all with this waterproof bullet.

One end is tapered for pin-point clitoral stimulation, while the other is covered in non-slip silicone for more control. There are also seven vibration patterns to keep you guessing, including a pulse, wave, heartbeat and cha-cha setting.

This one's also waterproof, whisper-quiet and comes with a handy travel lock to avoid any on-the-go vibrations. Need we say more?

Want a toy that both you and your partner will enjoy? Try the Tiani for mutual orgasms made easy.

This double-ended vibrator is designed to sit inside your vagina, sending pleasurable pulses to your G-spot, while the smaller arm sits on your clit to really push you over the edge. Then, once comfortable, invite your partner with a penis to join in on the fun. They’ll feel the vibrations along the length of their shaft too.

And if you fancy going hands-free — or relinquishing all control — explore the 10 vibration settings through the easy-to-use app.

People say it helps to be flexible in the bedroom — and it seems the same rules apply to your sex toys. Find the right spot, whatever your shape, thanks to this bendable G-spot vibrator that delivers all kinds of gorgey internal stimulation.

Again, Mystery Vibe have answered all your wishes, as this powerful pocket-rocket is showerproof, USB-rechargeable and can be controlled via a handy smart app.

Slather yourself in your favourite lube, then slide this in and wait for the finger-like sensations to start. We can almost guarantee you’ll be in orgasmic bliss in minutes.

Now this one’s not particularly subtle — it would be rude to ignore this Barbie-approved colourway— or small, but can be cleverly hidden inside your wash bag or a trainer (trust us, we’ve done it).

But the reason we’ve pulled this into the line-up is because sometimes you can’t beat a good old-fashioned dildo, particularly one designed to feel just like the real thing. Yep, this one has five insertable inches, made up of a rounded, swollen head and textured shaft for thrilling internal sensations.

There's also a rather strong suction-cup base and bulbous balls to make sure your vulva doesn’t miss out on the action too. Enjoy.

If you're short on space, there's nothing better than a two-in-one toy, right? This rechargeable cock ring works to strengthen you or your partner's erection, while also providing plenty of clitoral stimulation thanks to the handy addition of a bullet vibrator.

We also suggest using it as a finger vibrator when you're in the mood for some external play. Simply wrap the silicone ring around your digits and load up the tip with your favourite lube. With an impressive ten settings, this tiny bullet packs a serious punch.

So many options to play with!

Yes, carry-on space is limited and you defs need that third pair of shoes. But with travel-friendly sex tech being dinky and discreet as it is, there's really no reason not to bring it along on your next vacay. But don't just take our word for it; relationship psychologist Dr Limor Gottlieb is also a big fan.

“Bringing sex toys on vacation can enhance your intimate experiences and add excitement to your travels,” she says.

“Using sex toys can help release built-up tension and stress, promoting relaxation and a sense of well-being. This is especially beneficial during vacations when you want to unwind and enjoy yourself fully. You also have the luxury of time to fully indulge yourself.” Preach, sistah.

And it's always worth remembering why masturbation (with or without sex toys) is good for you in the first place, adds Dr Gottlieb, citing increased sexual satisfaction, safe exploration of your desires and the positive effects self-pleasure has on health, including “improved pelvic floor muscle tone, increased blood flow to the genitals, and heightened arousal response. This can contribute to better sexual function and overall well-being.” And isn't that what your hols are all about?

“If you are travelling with your partner, bringing sex toys can be a great way to introduce novelty in a new setting where you are both relaxed,” says Dr Gottlieb. “Novelty increases dopamine which increases intimacy, so using sex toys on your travels will provide a double booster.”

Pre-travel checks aren't just for your passport and plane skincare routine. Here, Dr Gottlieb and Sex & Relationships Psychotherapist Gigi Engle outline exactly what to look for in your travel-friendly teasers.

“When it comes to selecting sex toys for travel, make sure you opt for sex toys that are compact, lightweight, and discreetly designed, making them easy to pack and carry without drawing unwanted attention. Look for items that can be easily concealed in your luggage or personal belongings,” says Dr Gottlieb.

Engle agrees: “Compact toys are perfect for weekends, mini breaks, and really any holiday because they're so simple and portable. These toys may be small, but they still pack a punch.

“Even though most compact toys are thought of as 'solo toys,' they don't have to be. All toys can be used for partner play to spice things up.”

Some retailers, like Swedish pleasure provider LELO, ensure nearly all their toys come with a travel lock to help you avoid any turbulence. Often this is activated with an extended hold of one/all the buttons. However, Engle also recommends stashing your toy inside a cotton or satin pouch, to protect it from dust, bumps and beauty products.

“Pack toys in the travel pouches that they come with — or if they don't — simply grab a silk carrying bag or pouch from your jewellery or shoe collection,” she advises.

“There are plenty of options available on Amazon for good travel pouches. Reusing a plastic shopping bag is always a good, cheap option too.”

“Choose sex toys that offer versatility and can be used in various settings and positions,” suggests Dr Gottlieb. “This ensures that you can enjoy pleasure wherever you go, whether you're in a hotel room, on a beach, or camping in the wilderness. Multi-functional toys, or those with adjustable settings, can be particularly handy for travel.”

“Most toys can be plugged into your laptop (you might need a simple converter if you have a MacBook), so this makes charging on the go super easy and fast — without all the extra bulk,” says Engle.

“Make sure your chosen toys are easy to clean and maintain, as proper hygiene is essential, especially when travelling,” advises Dr Gottlieb. “Materials like silicone are body-safe and non-porous, and consider packing travel-sized toy cleaners or wipes for convenient cleaning on the go.”
